I’ve known Allison for years, so when she asked me to photograph her wedding, of course I said yes! Living nearby, we have watched for years as her dad, Jr., has transformed their backyard into a beautifully landscaped space, so I wasn’t surprised at all when Allison told me they would be having a backyard wedding. It was a perfect location for their special day. Naturally, an outdoor Kentucky wedding in June was going to be hot, but it was a day filled with love and laughter, and I don’t think it could have gone any better. Here’s a glimpse into Davie and Allison’s Mt. Sterling, KY wedding…. Oh, and that father-daughter dance has to be one of the best I’ve ever witnessed. Jr. lip synced the entire song, “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw, to Allison. It was funny and sweet all at once, and I might have gotten a little misty eyed.

Mt. Sterling KY Senior Photography: Brantley
I’ve known this guy since he was a baby because he just happens to be my cousin. He’s signing with Georgetown College today to play soccer (and I couldn’t be more proud of him), so I thought I’d blog his Senior session next.
We started Brantley’s Senior session in downtown Mt. Sterling. We walked around a bit and utilized alleys, stairs, and even the bracing for an air conditioning unit to create a variety of natural poses. Next we moved to his house to get some shots with his ATV, and we ended at his grandparents’ farm for some photos with his truck that have a little extra sentimental value. I wish you nothing but the best in all that you do, Brantley!!
Here are some of my top picks from Brantley’s Senior session:
Red River Gorge Wedding Photography: Brett and Megan
I loved Brett and Megan’s colorful outdoor wedding at the Cliffview Resort in Campton, Kentucky. Megan’s wedding dress really popped against the red cabin where she got ready, and her green shoes are among some of my favorites ever. It was a day full of happiness and lots of sweet moments, including a first look with Megan’s dad that might have left me a bit misty-eyed. The last few photos at the end are from Chimney Rock in the Red River Gorge, one of Brett and Megan’s favorite trails. There are so many more photos that I could include, but here are some of my favorites:
Mt. Sterling KY Senior Photography: Victoria T
I just adore Miss Victoria, so I thought I’d share a few photos from her Senior session next. We started photographing Victoria in downtown Mt. Sterling. She’s had tons of ballet photos done over the years, so we wanted to do something a little different (hence the urban setting). Then we went to one of my favorite locations in Montgomery County to get some photos of Victoria with her vintage suitcases and doing something she loves to do–read! I may have even had her read out loud to us a bit. Hahaha Then we found a field to take some photos of her with her A-Mazing microphone. This girl can sing, y’all! Of course, I only know this because of Facebook videos…she wouldn’t (couldn’t?) sing for us that day because she didn’t have a song in her heart at the moment. How precious is that, really? I had a blast taking Victoria’s Senior photos. Here are a few of my favorites:
Red River Gorge Engagement Session: Andrew and Rebecca
Rebecca had me hooked at “outdoor vineyard wedding” in Winchester, KY when she came in for her in-person wedding consultation. But when she mentioned possibly doing their engagement photos in the Red River Gorge, I knew we were a perfect match. It honestly doesn’t get much better than getting to combine two things I love–photography and hiking–in one of my favorite places.
The day of the engagement session turned out pretty magical; not a unicorns-and-rainbows kind of magical, but a 50+ degrees-in-February-and-a- beautiful-sunny-day-when-the-forecast-called-for-mostly-cloudy-all-week kind of magical. So it was probably only magical to me.
We started with a few shots at the barn near the Gladie Center for a different look. Then we did a little hiking on the Angel Windows Trail and the Whistling Arch Trail. They’re both pretty short, easy hikes, and honestly, the most strenuous thing we encountered all day was probably the hill in the parking lot at the Gladie Center. If you’ve never done any hiking and you’re in the area, these are both great trails to start with, and be sure to check out Sky Bridge or Chimney Rock while you’re nearby. Oh, and Miguel’s Pizza…you haven’t really been to the Red River Gorge if you haven’t had pizza and an Ale8 at Miguel’s.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day…some of them might even be just a little magical.
Mt. Sterling, KY Senior Photography: Hailie
I had a blast shooting with Hailie all over Mt. Sterling, KY for her Senior photos. She wanted a graffiti look, so we headed to the tunnel, and then we did some shots downtown, followed up with some that incorporated a few of her interests…music, reading, writing, her ADORABLE teeny-tiny puppy named Yeti, and Disney. Yes, when you’ve been to Disney so many times you’ve lost count, you have to capture that in your Senior photos. Here are a few of my favorites from her session…that last one with the sheet music might just be one of my all time faves. What would you love to do for your Senior photos??
Updating the website
There’s no doubt about it…I’d much rather be out taking photos in the beautiful, rolling hills of Kentucky, hiking in the Red River Gorge, shopping in downtown Mt. Sterling or Lexington, or really just about anything else than working on my website. But I’ve kind of neglected it for a year, so I guess it’s time. One responsible adult trophy over here, please.
Mount Sterling KY Senior Photography: Lane
As the mom of a boy, I think it’s just a little extra special when I get to do a Senior session for a guy….and for that guy’s mama in particular. Lane’s Senior portrait session was no exception. We were blessed with a beautiful day, and their friends let us use their equally gorgeous house and farm. There are few things as beautiful as a Central Kentucky farm. We roamed around and used the landscape as a sort of natural prop, and for someone who wasn’t exactly excited to be doing photos (most guys aren’t), Lane really rocked his Senior session. Here are a few previews from his Senior session:
Mount Sterling, KY Senior Photography: Kristen
I took Kristen’s Senior photos last summer before the school year even started, and we had a great time, so when I needed a model for an ad that I’m doing, I knew Kristen would be a perfect fit (not to mention she’s gorgeous). The ad was really more of a behind-the-scenes look at a session, which meant that I was in front of the camera…eek! Totally out of my comfort zone! I was really focusing on just not tripping or doing anything too stupid on camera, but we got some great shots of Kristen to add to her Senior portrait collection. Thank you, Kristen, for your willingness to help me out!
Mt. Sterling, KY Senior Photography: Symantha
Tunnel. Confetti gun. Books. Not getting run over. What do all of those things have in common? My awesome Senior session with Symantha, of course. Seriously, this session could not have been more fun. I’m still in the process of editing, but I couldn’t wait to get a sneak preview up. I hope you enjoy!
